Oh Little Fire
Sarah Harmer has released an EPK for her forthcoming album Oh Little Fire, available June 22. Can't wait!
Awesome! We always need another good driving record. But if I get a ticket listening to Sarah Harmer's new record I'm officially an old cat lady. I love the whole recording in an abandoned theatre. And this one isn't haunted! I was watching the BIO channel and they had Carnie Wilson recording and living In an old theatre converted into a recording studio. She recounted this story about a ghost touching her before she fell asleep. Hilarious. Pervs even In the afterlife.
It is difficult for me to commit to labels such as "all-time favorite", but Sarah Harmer's You Were Here may just be my favorite album...of all-time. All of Our Names was a nice follow up, then she strayed to country-folk. The country-folk was okay, but this seems like a return to the sound of her first two albums (not to mention her work with Weeping Tile)and I cannot wait to hear this album.
Sarah Harmer is definitely one of my top ten favorite artists. I agree she's best when she stays with the Rock sound. All Of Our Names is my personal favorite record of hers. "Almost" is my favorite song she's recorded so far.
I love Sarah so much. I first discovered her when she opened for the Cowboy Junkies in Boston. It was a great venue right on the water and Sarah opened the show and as soon as she was done, I did something that I had never done before; I immediately went to the merch table and purchased the cd of an opening act I had not heard of before. We had driven to Boston from New York, so we played You Were Here all the way home. As luck would have it, I was able to see Sarah play two more times that week. Sarah was performing for the CBS Saturday Early Show (taped on a Tuesday) and I was lucky to get a ticket to be in the audience. I met her afterwards and she signed my cd cover. She was very nice and made small talk. She then performed in the Village a few nights later. It was a great way to get into a new favorite artist. I have since seen her a few more times and I am looking forward to seeing her on her current tour in a few weeks. Concert review forthcoming...
My background is in communications, media ecology and philosophy and I have written music reviews for The Michigan Journal. I was also content editor for the offical website for The Wu-Tang Clan. I own many cds, records, cassete tapes and mp3 files.
I am a father, I have been in schools as either a student or employee for the last 27 years, I drink too much Pepsi.

ReplyDeleteYou have a great history with her. I'm jealous. She hasn't toured the West Coast yet. I'll be reading your review. :)
